This is about drinking wine, not having dinner. It is not a tapas tour with a glass on the side, it is a real tasting, for people who like wine and want to understand what is in the glass.
Five wines, five tapas. We go into two traditional taverns in La Latina, the kind with a zinc bar and bottles up to the ceiling, and taste five wines in all, chosen so you can see where each one comes from and how they differ. In between there are small tapas to cleanse the palate.
Liliane leads the tasting. She is a trained guide and a wine expert, and she tells the story behind each glass: the region, the grape, why it tastes the way it does and what that says about the place it comes from. A cultural journey through the wines of Spain, not a list of tasting notes.
And all of it through the most authentic neighbourhood in Madrid. La Latina is old Madrid: narrow streets, centuries-old taverns and the best place in the city for this. We meet at the fountain in Plaza de la Cebada and walk from there.
An hour and a half, private for your group so you can ask anything, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 19:00.
