Cul.Tour Madrid: the centre, told in full
Don't visit Madrid — understand it.
Most tours show you the what: the monuments, the squares, the facades. The Cul.Tour explains the why: why the city sits where it does, what the buildings were before they became photographs, and how people actually live in the streets around them. Private, for your party alone, at your own pace, on your own date — in English, Spanish or German.
Choose the length
2 hours · Madrid Highlights
The essentials, briskly: Habsburg Madrid, the Plaza Mayor, the old shopfronts around it and the Puerta del Sol, told as one story rather than a list of facades. For people who also have a museum, a meeting or a flight the same day.
On the route: Sol, Plaza Mayor, Ópera, the Royal Palace, Plaza de la Villa and the Mercado de San Miguel. Mainly flat, with cobbles in the old streets.
3 hours · Beyond the Surface (the one most people book)
The same ground at a proper pace, plus the streets that connect it all: time to stop and look, and the history joined up from beginning to end. The one we would do on a first day in Madrid.
Over the 2-hour version: everything above plus Callao and the Plaza de España.
4 hours · Deep Dive & Churros
The longest of the three, with a sit-down break roughly halfway for chocolate and churros and time in the quieter corners the short routes never reach. The break is where the group stops being an audience.
Over the 3-hour version: everything above plus the Templo de Debod. Chocolate and churros are not included and are paid on the day.
The landmarks, from another angle
- Puerta del Sol: the country's kilometre zero, and the square Madrid gathers in when something happens — good or bad.
- Plaza Mayor: a closed seventeenth-century courtyard built to hold the whole city, and what went on inside it.
- Royal Palace: the largest royal palace in Western Europe by floor area, on the exact spot where Madrid began.
- Mercado de San Miguel: how people shopped then and how they eat now, in the same iron building.
